What is the smallest dishwasher to choose? How not to miscalculate with the choice of model, dimensions and functionality of a kitchen assistant, so as not to be disappointed later and not look for a replacement for her?

Compact dishwashers

Compact dishwashers lead the household appliance sales list. Still, for little money, the buyer receives a huge benefit, or rather a few bonuses:

  • personal time is not wasted on washing dirty dishes;
  • utility costs are reduced (water and electricity bills are noticeably reduced);
  • when purchasing a small dishwasher, you do not need to do redevelopment and repairs in the kitchen;
  • low price compared to the cost of full-size counterparts.

The competition among home appliance manufacturers is huge, and each brand offers at least 20 models of small-sized dishwashers to choose from.

How do they differ and how to choose the best dishwasher? It is better to give preference to time-tested large manufacturers. A well-known brand is a guarantee of quality, reliability in operation, which has been confirmed by satisfied customers for decades.

Characteristics

The main criteria when choosing a compact dishwashing machine should be optimal technical characteristics:

  1. Variety of programs. The larger the set of machine programs, the more versatile it is. It’s good if, in addition to the traditional “Normal” and “Intensive” programs, the dishwasher has features such as half load mode (only one sink is filled); turbo drying; pre-rinse. The "Economy" program reduces water consumption, reduces the time of washing dishes. "Fast mode" is good for processing one set of tea service after breakfast. Bosch's innovation in the form of a self-cleaning filter simplifies dishwasher maintenance.
  2. Efficiency. It is not possible to check in advance how well the dirt on the dishes is washed off. But if the passport indicates the presence of sprinklers on the upper and lower walls, condensation drying of dishes, pre-soaking and rinsing, all these bonuses from manufacturers confirm the effective operation of the kitchen unit in advance. A smart dishwasher can independently "assess" the level of contamination of the plates, select the optimal operating mode and water heating temperature. In a good dishwasher, the number of temperature settings should be at least 5.
  3. Control. Mechanical switching of modes is carried out by turning the knob. Such machines break down less often and are easier to repair. The electronic control of the machine is displayed on the display, where at the touch of a button you can change the operating mode, set additional functions. Electronically controlled machines are more expensive than their mechanical counterparts.
  4. Profitability. It is better to give preference to dishwashers with the lowest consumption of electricity, water and detergents. If class A is indicated in the technical description, this means that one cycle of the dishwasher will be at least 20% more economical and perform its work more efficiently than larger machines. If the dishwasher can be connected to hot water, this will also save energy consumption.
  5. Safety. A reliable small dishwasher should have an important function - protection against leaks, it is provided by automatic control over the amount of water collected. In the event of a leak, the pump immediately turns on and the water supply to the unit is blocked. The tightness of the inner chamber, a reliable water supply system and water supply hoses with multiple degrees of strength ensure trouble-free operation of the dishwasher.
  6. The noise level of a running dishwasher should not exceed 43 dB.

Which option is better

When choosing a car, the first thing you have to decide is its model. There are two varieties: the smallest built-in dishwashers and desktop. Both those and other models can accommodate no more than 4-6 sets of dishes. For a small family, this will be enough.

If the layout of the kitchen and furniture allow, of course, it is better to hide the car (its size is 40 cm) in one of the cabinets or under the sink. The smallest dishwashers are built under the sink without any redevelopment and changing pipes. But most often a dishwasher is purchased when the entire kitchen is already equipped.

In this case, the best option is the smallest desktop dishwasher. Its dimensions can be no larger than the size of a microwave. But manufacturers adhere to certain standards: 46 x 45 x 48cm are the dimensions of “micro” dishwashers and 45 x 55 x 50cm are ordinary desktop dishwashers that belong to the compact class (size 40cm). The good thing about desktop dishwashers is that they can be easily connected to electricity and water supply.
